Hi, I’m Jason.

A Phoenix-based author who writes emotionally grounded fiction with a dark, speculative edge, grounded in the real places we turn to for escape. A financial IT professional by day and storyteller by heart, I try to blend the real and the surreal—crafting stories where ordinary people are forced to survive the extraordinary.

My debut novella, For After, was born from a thought while on a family trip to Disney World and shaped by the memory of his father’s love for the park and the constant fear of wanting to protect his children. What started as a quiet “what if?” grew into a visceral story of grief, survival, and the fragile magic we hold onto when everything falls apart.

When I am not writing or working, I enjoys traveling, discovering new foods, exploring Phoenix and AZ, and volunteering alongside my amazing wife, kids, and our 3 rescue dogs. I believes the best stories are the ones that linger—just like the places we can’t forget.

My Approach to writing For After…

It all begins with an idea that won't let go. For me, it was this reoccurring thought that finally struck while riding "Living with the Land" at EPCOT's Land Pavilion. What would I do if everything I knew about this place suddenly changed? That simple question became the foundation of my first story.

I never intended to become a writer. I work in IT and Finance—English was always my weakest subject. But I've always loved stories and the way they transport us to different worlds. Growing up, our family's Disney trips weren't just vacations; they were pilgrimages to a place where imagination reigned supreme, teaching me about the power of immersive storytelling. An escape from the pressures of the outside world.

The irony wasn't lost on me. Throughout school, I struggled with English while excelling in mathematics and computers. Simply put, I was a nerd. I embraced it. Yet despite it all, as I got older, I was drawn to stories, disappearing into books for hours and experiencing adventures beyond my own existence.

That moment of inspiration on the EPCOT ride just wouldn’t let me go. The question that struck me evolved from a simple "what if" into complex scenarios with characters, conflicts, and resolutions. What began as idle daydreaming became a story that demanded to be told. And for once, I had time to do it.

Writing felt like learning a new language, but my technical background proved surprisingly valuable. The analytical skills from my professional life helped structure narratives and build consistent fictional worlds. Our family trips to Disney taught me to consider every detail, creating immersive experiences that transport readers just as those childhood trips had transported me.

The story that emerged became more than I initially imagined—exploring human resilience, community, and adaptation to change. It reminded me that creativity can emerge from unexpected places and that we're often capable of far more than we realize. Sometimes the most rewarding adventures begin with nothing more than a simple question that refuses to let us go.
